The Wired Chair by Michael Young is a proud tribute to Harry Bertoia’s iconic design. This updated take on a classic piece is crafted from the same industrial material — steel wire, but in a matt finish — bent into organic shapes that suggest the veins of a leaf. Sharp angles are rounded off and colours turn softer to evoke tranquillity. Graphical and light, the design fits in comfortably with any decor, both indoors and outdoors. Available in two versions: four legs or two sled legs, the four leg model is stackable by three.
“One of the world’s most incredible chair designs is Bertoia’s Wire chair, which was a major inspiration for me as a young designer. During the 90s, I spent a lot of time experimenting with steel wire when I was working in Tom Dixon’s studio; and it always fascinated me. This chair was essentially born of one of my experiments with building seat structures. And the stunning design that came out of it is only a gratifying part of this process.” Michael Young
