Faberhama sees the carpet as a window on the world, a means of transition and cyclicity between departure and return, an imaginative experience beyond territorial and cultural boundaries, to reach a mythological space-time: the carpet, the journey, the dream.
Terra Incognita (“Unknown Land”) is research inspired by travel, intended as an exploration of distant territories and dreamlike experiences in order to receive a new consciousness.
In ancient cartography, the term 'terra incognita' identified unexplored areas, unknown and therefore feared, as in the common belief that they were inhabited by dragons and other fantastic beasts. These beasts, as well as the morphology of the lands, were represented on the maps.
The winged horse Tulpar, one the mythological characters of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia, was often depicted on the top of the Yurt, the traditional circular tent of that area. The Rug is made up of a series of interlocking discs, similar to feathers in a large wing, while side strings recall traditional harnesses and ornaments worn by Asian horses, thus suggesting a dynamic lifestyle that is open to change.
