Seeing Colombia in its beauty - in keeping with this vision, Ames is developing a unique collection of furniture and home decor manufactured in Colombia. Founded in 2006 by Ana María Calderón Kayser and her husband Karl-Heinz Kayser, the company predominantly uses the country’s traditional natural materials and craft techniques for their collection.
German designer Sebastian Herkner is a long-term collaborator of Ames and has visited Colombia multiple times. He not only immersed himself in the culture and beauty of the country, but also met the local Ames artisans and learned about their traditional weaving techniques.
As vibrant as life in Cartagena de Indias: for the chic, hand-made Cartagenas chairs, Sebastian Herkner took inspiration from Colombia’s lively coastal city.
Galvanized and powder coated tubular steel frame. Strings made from recycled PVC, are woven by hand around the steel frame, using two different colours for seat and back.
