NICOLÒ SPINELLI
NICOLÒ SPINELLI
Nicolò Spinelli is foremost an architect, graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2012. In that same year, in Rome, he received his Master’s degree in ‘Museography, Architecture, Archaeology, Strategic Design and innovative Archaeological Heritage management’. Since 2014 Spinelli has headed his own firm in Monza, Italy, the city where he grew up and lives. To express his vision of today he moves to include collectible design in his practice.
Spinelli’s debut collection Architectural Allusions are powerful furnishing items, conceived as architecture of time and ‘strongboxes’ to hold memories. As the result of research, each element in the collection is not just expressed by its rigorously geometric shapes, but connected by shared purpose that goes beyond their individual function - to store and protect. Tradition and innovation converge in harmony to produce heirloom pieces to be passed down through the generations.
The Allusions are designed to last and question the forced obsolescence of items in contemporary society. Immobile, they are a part of an endless passing of the baton from past to future. Spinelli’s poetic attitude ensures that furnishings used in daily ritual have great symbolic meaning and establish a dialogue between town and country.
Handcrafted by prestigious artisans in Brianza, a region of northern Italy that has become a heritage due to its tradition with furniture design, each piece is an edition of 12 and is signed and numbered, followed by a certificate of authenticity.
